A challenge we all face as we get older is to think about where we live, and how it will work for us when we’re older. If you intend to ‘stay put’ where you are, then thinking and planning ahead makes sense. We were told about various activities and saw activity boards within the home.

While no applications have needed to be submitted proper policies and procedures were in place. Relevant staff had been trained to understand when an application should be made and how to submit one. This meant that people living in the home were protected from bullying, harassment, avoidable harm, abuse and breaches of their human rights.

If a person did not have capacity, decisions were always made in their best interest. The way staff interacted with people showed that they actively sought and listened to people’s views and decisions. The inspector made no statutory requirements on the home as a result of this inspection and there were no outstanding actions from the previous inspection report. The CQC rated Morris Care’s Radbrook good for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The team at a Shrewsbury nursing home are celebrating their latest rating by CQC following a recent inspection. If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service.
Staff spoke of their awareness of how to keep people safe from harm. Staff told us about the training that the home had arranged for them to attend so that they would recognise abuse and how to report it. Robust quality assurance and governance systems were in place and used to drive continuous improvement.
To complete the experience, a relaxing private garden is fully accessible for all residents to enjoy. Making sure our residents are full and satisfied is a key part to my role, and ensuring that they each have an excellent dining reception to enjoy their food in is all part of the service. The role of a bursar is so much more varied than a typical office-based role.
